Revit family studio
Revit families that carry their own data sheet.
We build fully parametric Revit families for building-product manufacturers and design teams. Each one ships with checked IFC, COBie, classification and carbon data, and a 3D viewer you can put on your own product pages.

Why it matters
Specifiers pick the product whose data they can use.
Architects drop content that bloats their models or leaves schedules blank. Manufacturers whose families arrive complete get placed in the model, and stay there through tender.
-
22%
of manufacturers offer BIM objects for all of their products. 73% offer them for at least some.
NBS Digital Construction Report, 2025 -
88%
of specifiers say an Environmental Product Declaration matters when they choose a product.
NBS survey of 591 professionals, 2023 -
74%
of architects leave a manufacturer’s site if they can’t find what they need in a few clicks. 61% of them go to a competitor.

What ships
Every family arrives as a full transmittal.
One source of truth produces the Revit file, the IFC object, the web model and the data sheet, so they never disagree.

For building-product manufacturers
Manufacturer content programmes
Turn a catalogue into a specifiable Revit library: type catalogs for large ranges, platform-ready packages and a viewer for every product page.
-
For architects and engineers
Custom families for design teams
Office-standard and project-specific families built to your template, shared parameters and BIM execution plan.
-
For BIM managers
Library audit and rebuild
We test existing content against our standard, strip imported CAD, fix broken formulas and map everything to shared parameters.
-
For manufacturers and owners
Data enrichment
COBie, IFC property sets, EPD carbon values, ETIM classes and GS1 identifiers added to families you already have.
-
For marketing and sales teams
Web viewer and configurator
The family’s own parameters, live in a 3D viewer on your website, with gated downloads and analytics.
-
For every client
Version care
A yearly upgrade to each new Revit release, change logs, and republishing to every platform you list on.
Data standard
Eight groups of data, mapped once, exported everywhere.
Each value is traced to a document you supplied and stored as a shared parameter, so it fills Revit schedules, IFC property sets, COBie sheets and the web viewer from the same place.
| Group | Example parameters | Standard |
|---|---|---|
| Identity | Manufacturer, Model, GTIN, URL, Type Mark, Cost | Pset_ManufacturerTypeInformation · GS1 |
| Geometry | Width, Height, clearances, mounting height, connectors | Revit templates · ISO 7817-1 |
| Classification | Uniclass Pr and Ss, MasterFormat, UniFormat, Assembly Code | Uniclass 2015 · CSI |
| openBIM | IfcExportAs, PredefinedType, Pset_*Common | IFC 4.3 · bSDD |
| Operations | Warranty, expected life, replacement cost | COBie 2.4 |
| Performance | Fire rating, Rw, U-value, lumens, flow rates, loads | EN · ASTM · IES |
| Sustainability | GWP A1–A3, EPD number, recycled content, end of life | EN 15804+A2 · ISO 14025 |
| Passport | GS1 Digital Link, certifications, accessibility | EU CPR 2024/3110 |
Web viewer
Put the family on your product page.
Visitors turn the model, switch types and read the data without a plugin or an Autodesk account. Your team sees which products and sizes they look at.
Process
Ten working days for a typical ten-family range.
- Day 1–2
Intake
Send datasheets, CAD or STEP files, price lists and EPDs. We return a data map for sign-off.
- Day 2–3
Schema mapping
Each value is assigned a shared parameter, IFC property, COBie field and classification code.
- Day 3–7
Parametric modelling
Reference planes, constraints, formulas and nested parts, with coarse, medium and fine detail.
- Day 7–8
Automated QA
Scripted checks on naming, parameters, file size and IFC mapping, then a test in a live project.
- Day 8–9
Versions and exports
Upgraded to each Revit release you support, plus IFC, GLB, USDZ and the data sheet.
- Day 10
Publish
Viewer live on your site, packages on BIM platforms, analytics switched on.

FAQ
Questions we hear first.
Which Revit versions do you deliver?
We author in the oldest release you need and upgrade a copy to each newer one, because Revit cannot save a family back to an earlier version. Most clients take 2023 to 2027.
Can you work from our CAD or STEP files?
Yes. We use them for exact dimensions and rebuild the geometry natively instead of importing it, which keeps families small, clean and parametric.
Who owns the families?
You do. On final payment you receive the native files, the shared parameter file and the rules sheet, with full rights to publish and modify them.
Do visitors need an Autodesk account to use the viewer?
No. The viewer runs on open formats (glTF) in any modern browser, on phones too, with no plugin or sign-in.
Will you upload to BIMobject, BIMsmith or NBS Source?
Yes. We prepare each package to the platform’s own rules and can manage your listings for you.
How do you keep the data accurate?
Every value is traced to a document you supplied, recorded in the data map and checked by script before release. When your data changes, we update the family, the IFC object and the viewer from that one source.
Are the families ready for Digital Product Passports?
The EU Construction Products Regulation 2024/3110 introduces passports, but the data model for construction products is still being written. We store GTINs and GS1 Digital Link addresses now, so passports can be linked as soon as the rules for your product type are set.
